Cozy and retro-style motel right along the Washington coast. Rooms can be had as stand alone log cabins or the more conventional multi-unit seen at most motels. It's a family-run business, with the owners living on-site. There's no room service or pool but the cabin I opted to stay in was warm, with a soft bed and a kitchenette to make breakfast in the following morning. A bit like a miniature apartment actually. It had a stove, a fridge a microwave and chairs to sit in. Parking was plentiful with room for trailers in the upper lot. Located very close to beach access. If you like retro motels this one is a must-see!
My husband and I have been coming to West Winds Motel for the annual motorcycle rally held at Ocean Shores for over 30 years. We LOVE our cozy little cabin #4--a true hideaway! Full kitchen and such a comfortable bed! We love to make breakfast and sit outside in the sunshine. It is so comfy and cozy, I have to make myself go out and take part in the activities we come here for! All things must end, and I know it's time for Dave and his wife to move on. I sincerely wish them the best, but can't help but have a broken heart, knowing I'll never stay in Cabin 4 again. The best of times! We were so lucky all these years. With much fondness and gratitude, Diana & Gary
Dave, our host, takes care to clean each unit as soon as the guests vacate. My good friend is staying here while her new home is being completed in Ocean Shores. She suggested that we stay here too. The lack of updates is actually comforting and complimented by the level of cleanliness of each unit. These cabins are perfect for a family with children and/or dogs. Best deal in the area. K
In all honesty these cabins are alright. You get what you pay for. They are completely old school. We stayed in #5 When we walked it it had an "old people smell" it's decor is from the 70s. It is fully furnished. Rags, dishes, toaster, microwave, table & chairs, even some seasonings. Bring your own shampoo & conditioner. They do provide body soap however it's super cheap. I'd recommend bringing your own blankets and towels. The couch turned out to be a pull out couch but no extra blankets or pillows were to be found in the room. It's in a great location your 5 minutes from the beach (ocean city) and there's a mini Mart down the street. Very convenient. But don't expect Boujee here. All the hotels were booked and there was vacancy available. I would stay again but come be prepared.
